Leave the serving dishes on the counter.

If you put all the food on the table it is too easy to keep eating without thinking about it. The food keeps circling around the table and when it comes to you another spoonful may land on your plate. If you have to get up to get to more food, you are more aware of what you are doing and you are less likely to eat more.
