John H. Ganser, MD, FACS
Dr. John Ganser is a native Nevadan and completed his undergraduate degree at University of Nevada, Reno in 1984. He attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. His residency was spent in Portland, Oregon at the Oregon Health Sciences University followed by a fellowship in general thoracic surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Birmingham, England. Ganser has additional training in Laparoscopic surgery (Medical College of Virginia) and Minimally Invasive surgical procedures (California Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery). He returned home to Reno, and was instrumental in founding Western Bariatric Institute, Northern Nevada’s first Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery. Ganser is active in Nevada State Medical Association, Fellow American College of Surgeons, Washoe County Medical Society, Oregon Medical Association, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is currently the Bariatric Medical Director at Western Bariatric Institute and Renown South Meadows.
