We all have choices to make in life. You chose to have weight loss surgery to help you lose weight and keep it off. You choose the foods and portion sizes you eat to help you with those goals. So just because you can eat something, that doesn’t mean you should eat it. If you have high blood pressure you could salty foods all day long but that doesn’t mean you should. Saturated fats aren’t good for anybody. I have high cholesterol, thanks to my mom and dad, and I take medication to treat it. I am able to eat high saturated fat foods but I don’t. A pill isn’t going to keep my cholesterol down if I make poor food choices. When patients tell me they can eat something that is not a healthful food choice, I know that is NOT the only food they “can eat.” Your tool isn’t going to fix bad food choices. And if you can eat bigger portions than recommended that doesn’t mean you should. There are lots of things we could do in our lives but we don’t because we know better. Treat your food choices the same way.
