Our goal at Western Bariatric Institute is to provide the safest treatment for our patients. We are committed to using the most innovative techniques wherever possible, to ensure a better surgical experience and better outcomes.

Benefits of Laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery include:
Smaller Incisions
• Less Pain
• Shorter Recovery Time

Laparoscopic or minimally invasive procedures require smaller incisions than those needed for traditional “open” surgery. The procedure involves making five small skin incisions, each of which is approximately 1 cm in length. A small camera, called a laparoscope, is inserted into the abdomen. With smaller incisions, patients will benefit from shorter recovery times, less post-op pain and better cosmetic results with minimal visible scarring. Based on numerous prospective randomized controlled trials, the approach has proven to be beneficial in reducing post-operative complications such as wound infections and incisional hernias; especially in morbidly obese patients.
